General Business Administration — Fast Track Overview
Now you can get started in your business career in just 15 months with our General Business Administration — Fast Track Option. Enrollment is only available for Fall or Summer Semesters.
Like College of The Albemarle’s (COA) traditional General Business Administration curriculum, the Fast Track Option is designed to introduce you to various aspects of the free enterprise system, but at a quicker pace — summer and winter (four-week sessions between our fall and spring semesters) classes speed your progress. You’ll be provided with a fundamental knowledge of business functions, processes, and an understanding of business organizations in today’s global economy.
The Fast Track Option allows you to:
- Earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in just 15 months
- Save thousands by completing two years at COA versus a four-year institution
- Enter the workforce faster
- Have the option to transfer to a four-year college or university faster*
Classwork — which is mostly online — includes business concepts such as accounting, business law, economics, management and marketing. Skills related to the application of these concepts are developed through the study of computer applications, communication, team building and decision-making. Through these skills, you’ll have a sound business education base for lifelong learning.
*Students who intend to transfer are encouraged to work with the intended four-year college or university. Courses should be chosen based upon requirements for student’s intended major at the receiving four-year institution.
Degree Option
- General Business Administration — Associate in Applied Science
Winter Intersession
The General Business Administration program offers a select number of Winter Intersession Courses. Winter intersession is an online intensive four-week class offered between the fall and spring semesters.
An intensive course means that you’re expected to complete the same course work that is taught in a 16-week course within a four-week time frame. You’ll be required to complete work on a daily basis. If a class is a three contact hour course taught over 16 weeks, the 48 hours of the course will be covered in four weeks.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, students will:
- Develop and use balance sheets and income statements to gauge the performance of an actual firm
- Work proficiently with the QuickBooks small business accounting system
- Complete a corporate analysis of actual firms and present the comparative findings
