HVAC Technology Program Overview

College of The Albemarle’s (COA) Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration HVAC Technology program, offered at COA – Edenton-Chowan and COA – Dare, will give you the skills needed to work with residential and light commercial systems, as well as assist in the start up, preventive maintenance, service, repair, and installation of residential and light commercial systems.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Complete layout drawings for HVAC systems using an approved engineering methods
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in refrigeration concepts and theory based on the Federal 608 CFC Certification
  3. Demonstrate knowledge about the refrigeration cycle explaining the major components and the physical state of the refrigeration in the system
  4. Identify an electrical fault on an AC system, using knowledge of Ohm’s Law
