Adult High School
The Adult High School program at College of The Albemarle’s (COA) College and Career Readiness program is an Adult Secondary Education program offered cooperatively with the local education agency and community college so that adults may complete credits to earn an Adult High School diploma. COA’s College and Career Readiness program partners with the following local education agencies:
- Camden County Public Schools
- Edenton-Chowan County Public Schools
- Currituck County Public Schools
- Dare County Public Schools
- Gates County Public Schools
- Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Public Schools
- Perquimans County Public Schools
All coursework for the Adult High School program is completed in the COA College and Career Readiness program, not the local education agency.

- Online instruction with personalized assistance from instructors
Program Requirements
- To be eligible, a student needs to have at least 16 credits to transfer into the program and can have no more than 6 credits remaining in the North Carolina Future-Ready Core Course of Study Requirements.
- Minors must be officially withdrawn from their pubic school for at least six months
- Attain a minimum score of level 5 score on the pretest assessment
- Official transcript in a sealed enveloped mailed or hand delivered

Admission
To join the Adult High School program, you must meet local guidelines to qualify for admission. To apply for admission, complete the College and Career Readiness Application for Admission. Minors between the age of 16 and 17 also qualify for the program. Minor admission requires the parent/legal guardian to complete the Minor Application for Admission. This application must be notarized. Minor applicants whose last school of attendance was within the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Public School System must obtain the Minor Application for Admission from the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Schools Drop-Out Prevention Coordinator. All others may obtain the application by completing the College and Career Readiness Minor Application for Admission.
The following documents are required for admission:
- Social Security Card
- Unexpired state-issued photo identification (or passport or military identification)
- Official transcript (from the last high school of attendance)
