College of The Albemarle (COA) students and employees have the opportunity to participate in a short film competition. The competition is underway, and public viewing of the top ten short films will be held on Wednesday, April 26th, at 6:00 p.m. at COA – Elizabeth City in the Performing Arts Center, 1208 N. Road Street. From the top ten submissions, three winners will be named. The awardees will receive a Golden Dolphin for first place, Silver Dolphin for second and a Bronze Dolphin for third place.
This is the first year of the film competition. Bradley Boswell, COA Assistant Professor of Spanish and French, has a passion for movies and films and a love for movies that relate to various curricula. He is coordinating not only the film competition but an international film festival for COA students as well.
“I know that we have a very creative community at COA, so I am looking forward to our short film competition,” shared Boswell. “Films can be of any genre, from mystery to science fiction, from documentaries to parodies, as long as they are family-friendly. I look forward to seeing the film submissions from our students and employees and awarding the esteemed Golden Dolphin award.”
The short films are being created for an audience of all ages. Please join College of The Albemarle for this event and support the creativity of our students and employees. We look forward to viewing the films and announcing the winners. Admission is free, and concessions will be available for purchase in the lobby before and during the event.
