Continuing Education: Electrical Class
Elizabeth City, North Carolina — Local employers, B&M Contractors and Gary Eure Plumbing and Electrical, were invited to speak with students participating in College of The Albemarle’s (COA) Intro to Electrical class, which focuses on residential basics, on Thursday, Nov. 21.
Representatives from the companies talked with students about qualifications and skills needed for positions within their organizations, as well as job opportunities and tips for entering the workforce successfully. The Intro to Electrical class was offered through COA’s Workforce Development and Career Readiness (WDCR) division. The 96-hour course ends on Dec. 17 and covered topics including theory, terminology, safety, codes and circuits. The six students enrolled in the course are comprised of “do-it-yourselfers” and those interested in seeking entry-level skills to move into the trade.
Included in continuing education offerings for spring 2020 will be Intro to Plumbing: Residential Basics. Similar to the electrical course providing basics to the novice student, participants will gain the basic knowledge and skills necessary to install and maintain basic residential plumbing systems, components and fixtures upon completion of the course.
