Kitty Hawk, North Carolina — College of The Albemarle’s (COA) Foundation received a $1,500 gift from the Marine Corps League Outer Banks NC Detachment to establish the “Marine Corps League Annual Good Citizen Scholarship.” A signing ceremony was held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 to celebrate the new scholarship that will enhance opportunities for active citizens within the community.
The Marine Corps League Annual Good Citizen Scholarship will be awarded in three increments of $500 to high school graduates from Dare or Currituck counties. Those applying for the scholarship must also be enrolled in a two-year trade program or pursuing a degree at COA. Preferred programs include Aviation Maintenance Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting Technology, Computer Integrated Machining, Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Education Certificate, Electrical Systems Technology Certificate, HVAC Technology, Nurse Aide Assistant and Welding Technology.
“Career and Technical Education programs continue to be a great option for those who desire hands-on training that can immediately be applied in the workforce, and this scholarship will be a tremendous benefit for the students awarded,” said the executive director of the COA Foundation. “Thank you to the Marine Corps League Outer Banks Detachment for providing this opportunity to deserving students in the community.”
