In this class we will learn about alternative firings in ceramicswhich encompass techniques outside traditional kiln firings, suchas raku, pit, barrel, and saggar firings. These techniquesproduce unique and unpredictable results using natural elementsand materials like seaweed, salt, and pine straw. We will exploreseveral techniques, however our main focus will be on 2 pit firesthat will take place at the end of the class. Class will includeclay specific to these alternative firing techniques.
